Flavia Fusion’s High Tech Coffee for the Home

Flavia FusionBy Steve Johnson
Contributing Writer, RealTechNews

Flavia’s newest member of its line of single-serve brewing machines is the Flavia Fusion. Based on the success of its office product, the SB100, the Fusion model is designed for the home.

The Flavia Fusion comes with its own set of single-serve drink packages, 30 of them to be exact, including coffees, teas, well-being, and other indulgences. Source: Flavia

Alice Adds: We have a Flavia Fusion in our Dallas office and I sometimes I think it’s why I took the job with my current company. The way the coffee packet disappears when the brewing is done, is really bizarre - it makes this whooshing sound. Very high tech in a 50s vending machine kind of of way.

    $199 is pretty pricey.

What does this have to do with technology?

It’s a computer controlled coffee maker. So call it a kitchen Gagdet. We like to mix it up from time to time. If you ever saw the giant office Flavias at work, you’d see what I mean. They are like mini coffee computers. This is the one my office has:

$200 for a $&^!!?! coffee maker???? This kind of reasoning is the same as those ~$4000 computer that are being pushed in computer magazines. I’ll keep buying my coffee makers at Walmart for $15.

    Ridiculous.

Well, like I said - the one I liked was in our Dallas office = Alice didn’t pay for it. At home a I have a Mr. Coffee programmable coffee maker with a stainless steel carafe. Got it at Target for $60 and love the many LEDs.

I should also note that readers on the Target website rated my coffee maker (see above) as THE worst coffee maker ever made. I originally agreed and in fact re-boxed it in a rage after my counters were a lake of hot water and I had burns from the mess just seconds after happily setting it up.

But once I had the filter basket installed correctly (I had it in backwards), and fixed the “steel a cup” arm correctly (the instructions stink) it worked like a charm. So, fingers crossed, this was just bad instructios and parts that can be installed in two ways and cause a huge disaster if you pick the wrong way. If it lakes on me a month from now, guess I’ll check out the Flavias!

I’m sure these funky machines are going to take the market by storm. The range of drinks you can make at home is massive (30 plus types)….compared to any of those ‘just-do-coffee type machines’ I’ve seen them demonstrated and can’t wait to get one for home. $99 well spent!….Bring it on.

I was in Dallas last week and saw this wicked drinks station being demonstrated. I was stunned all the technology packed into this curvy little package for just $99. I’ve got a pod machine at home but I’m going to buy one of these babies instead, the drinks are as good as you get at Starbucks at half the price!!!!

I first tried one of the Flavia Drinks at a Bed and Breakfast. I couldn’t wait to get my own. I loved it so much I got one for my work and my husband then had to have one for his work. When you compare it to the cost of stopping by the coffee shop it is a real deal. I can have a fantastic cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate whenever I want. And every cup is perfect!! It sells for around $75 now and compared to those home coffee makers that only make a pot of coffee that then sits there getting stronger and worse tasting every minute it can’t be beat!!!
