Beware: Here Come the Hurricane Katrina Phishing Scams
Just got this from a reader. Please take a moment to read this because it looks like the phishers are at it again with fake donation sites and so on.
===============
Hey Alice, Mikey here.
Just got a SPAM email from a phisher looking for my CC# through an “official” looking website offering to help with emergency relief for hurricane victims on the gulf coast. I will not refer to this URL even as an example, so it stops here.. No traffic generation by me.
I referred the spam to the USAG’s office in my local area, and EXPECT all users that get this to do the same. There are legit sites for aid to the victims, all you gotta do is call the American Red Cross.

UPDATE: WHAT YOU CAN DO
From our readers and contributors. (Thanks guys)
–You can report any such scam mails to the Red Cross at infosec@usa.redcross.org. The Chief Information Security Officer at the Red Cross,vRon Baklarz, is asking that you send copies of any phishing mails your receive to this address. There have already been multiple examples of this type of scam. Hopefully by getting the information out there we can catch some of these guys Comment by Martin McKeay (RTN Reader)
–It’s easy to detect phishing/dangerous websites using Netcraft toolbar. Plus, if you submit a phishing site to Netcraft, you’ll get a really big CaféPress.com mug with Netcraft logo on it. Comment by Burak (RTN Contributing Writer)

Speaking of phishing scams…
