By Alice Hill
RealTechNews

It went by the code name Hermione and here’s what we know thanks to our newest contributor Burak Bayburtlu. He has been hot on the trail of the upcoming Hermione (code name for Sony’s P950i Smartphone) and he turned up a ton of info. This is one of the first pictures.

Final production colour will not be gold, but more likely dark grey.
• Info on the back of the phone: It seems it resembles the W800.
Note: Info on the back is still very scarce and unconfirmed.
• The first spy photos in the web !!
• P950i seems to be the final name
• Wi-Fi is confirmed
Note: Got some reports that Wi-Fi works on some prototypes, but keep in mind support for Wi-Fi is still a rumour until SE confirms it !
• Introduction to market is in November. Availability on the market is week 6 (February 2006)
Coincidence or not, it’s during the 3GSM World Congress

Looks like a decent upgrade, though I’d prefer it have both wifi as well as 3G.. My P800’s getting a bit long-in-the-tooth…

If the specs come out to be correct, it will come with both wifi and 3G… UMTS is 3G, and better than evdo to boot. Cingular is supposed to be doing a nation wide rollout within the year(2006). If all this is true, this phone WILL be my next phone.

Get a grip you really think SE would make a phone that looks as shabby as this does. Note the p900 buttons? It’s a mix up of different phones done in Photoshop.
And a bad one at that… rant over…………….!

ugly, but not too big. Unless the guy is Andé the Giant’s twin brother, this handest is not much bigger than a Nokia 6680. It will be much easier to use without the flip since the keyboard is on phone. If the display is still touch-sensitive, this should be a really good phone / PDA.

Ok…well, everyone know it will have Wifi & UIQ 3, so any guesses at to what else it could be?

A smaller form factor than exisitng P-Series would be nice…
