Open office is a horrible product but can't necessarily say microsoft is any less worse. Anyway the poorest programming ,very inefficient, inexcuseably slow, errors all the time. Can't even make a simple readable formula to export to pdf. Often one types only 3 letters and it does that annoying completing which is impossible to turn off. Also always starts in same size fornt and one cannot change it-once you get in you can but it always starts in a way one has no control. Only comes up with one directory, the last one you chose. One would think with a product that size would give a choice of different directories to present for different tjhings

Seems to be too difficult to work with. Have gone to over a dozen sites for assistance with making mailing labels and still can't get the Open Office to work. When it is this difficult to use the reason so many use Microsoft is apparent. I had wanted to see about switching but it looks like time to get the Office 2007.

Openoffice is VERY SLOW!!! It's really like a snail comparing with MS Word 2003. Comparing with openoffice, my favorite Atlantis Word Processor works at light speed: http://www.atlantiswordprocessor.com

[...] Microsoft has entered the open document fray with a vengeance. Among their offers is the XPS format, which is essentially a more secure version of PDF, and includes stuff like color correction and is XML based. Essentially Microsoft is trying to go for the long term archival market with this product. For some reason people want to be able to access their documents years after they were created. Or on different OS’s with different programs. [...]
