Calibrate Your HDTV with the DataColor SpyderTV

Calibrating the color on your HDTV is a real pain in the butt, because you never know what the picture is supposed to look like; you only know that it looks OK to you. That’s where the SpyderTV comes in.
This device, offered by DataColor, tells you how to adjust each setting to accurately improve the image on your home theater display. It measures contrast, brightness, color, tint and color temperature presets through wizard-driven software.
The SpyderTV unit attaches itself to the screen of your HDTV, while a USB cable is attached to your computer. You play a special test-pattern DVD on your DVD Player, while the SpyderTV analyzes the patterns. After analysis, it sends information to your computer explaining specifically how to adjust each setting to achieve optimal results.
When you’re done, DataColor’s reporting tool allows you to print out a report detailing all the changes you made. You can also check the Before and After images to see the difference.
SpyderTV will work for Plasma, RPTV, DLP, LCD and CRT TVs. Source: DataColor
