We may have to create a new category called “Doggie Tech” because dog-related products just keep on coming. First came the Dog-powered Scooter, then the Poosadaisey, and today we have the $79.99 K9 Kalmer. Billed as “The Bark Stops Here.”
“Variety International announced today the long awaited release of their new pet product, the K9 Kalmer. This is the only anti-barking device on the market that does not use pain or irritation to alter a dog’s behavior. What makes the device unique is that it uses proprietary ultrasonic musical compositions — songs that are inaudible to humans to calm anxious pets.
“Specifically, the K9 Kalmer was designed to stop irritating dog barking. “Dog ownership in residential communities is at an all time high,” claims company president Jim Wessling. “That translates to a high nuisance factor as it relates to dog barking and the disturbance of the peace and quiet we have come to cherish in our neighborhoods.’” Source: Gizmag
Our Question: Is this like playing Mariah Carey and rap songs loud as hidden torture or is this more like Muzak for dogs? Or is that the same thing?

From K9 Info the FAQ:
Day 1
Press the musical note button one time and the light over the “12″ setting will light. The unit is now set to operate - one hour on, one hour off - for 24 hours. After 24 hours of operation, the unit will automatically adjust to the “8″ setting (on one hour, off two hours). Leave the unit on for the next five days.
Day 6
Press the musical note to lower to the “6″ setting (on one hour, off three hours). Leave on “6″ setting for 24 hours.
Day 7
Press the musical note to lower the setting to “4″ (on one hour, off five hours).
If necessary, you may reset the unit to “12″ for an intense refresher, but do not subject your dog to the intense “12″ setting for more than twelve hours at a time (after the initial Day 1 startup).
