The OHC engines you guys love so much produce HP on a dyno, but in the real world and open space of the US, torque is king. We just don't see a need to wind an engine out to 8000rpms when the race is over at 5000rpms on the street. Take a look at the typical European engine torque rating vs. American engine and you will learn something. Then like i stated above. the 426 7.0L Hemi can push out 560HP with 600lbs of torque, thats PRETTY damn GOOD!! AND THEY ARE 4 DOOR SEDANS TYPICALLY!!! Now if you were to Turbo the 6.1L you can get over 600HP from what i hear and have seen in some video footage. Also take note that those 6 or 7 Litre engines that you are talking about come from the factory most of the time TURBOED. For example a Bentley can come from the Dealership Turboed already and you are paying 3-5 time more for that much more Horsepower. And they're supercharged aswell and produce so little HP even though the engine is so freakin big. A 6 or 7litre engine these days are able to produce close to a 1000hp. Go and look it up on the net and you'll realise that America is really falling behind in terms of technology...well technology that matters anyway, lol.
