Yahoo! Launches its Adsense Killer: the Yahoo! Publisher Network

By Alice Hill
RealTechNews

As we reported yesterday, Yahoo officially launched it’s version of Google’s popular and wildly successful AdSense program this morning. Billed as the Yahoo! Publisher Network (sounds classy), it’s interesting that they don’t actually say “blog” anywhere on the intro page.
=============
The new Yahoo! Publisher Network platform is now in beta and it enables you to:

* Generate additional revenue from your site. Display ads related to the content on your site. You’ll earn revenue from qualified clicks.

* Take advantage of Yahoo! Publisher tools, services and programs. Integrate other Yahoo! services into your web site, including Add to My Yahoo! (RSS), Y!Q and much more to come…

* Help shape what Yahoo! offers the publishing community. This beta program is just the beginning. Our mission is to deliver products and services based on the needs of the publishing community.
=============

Our Take: Blogs are certainly the buzzword du jour but in reality most are just unprofessional ramblings or online diaries about a trip to France with some cool links thrown in. Truly focused blogs are really more like independent publishers (like us) so hats off to Yahoo for calling us what we are, although all blogs big and small, focuses and unfocused will contribute to Yahoo’s bottom line.

    Considering when you first got AdSense you were smart enough to follow Google’s rules and didn’t understand telling people to “CLICK THE ADS” was stealing, do you think you can handle YPN if they’re dumb enough to let you in?

    I don’t imagine we’d have any trouble with this. We learned from what happened, we moved on, and we never violated anything ad-related again.
