The Launch of Start.com….Is Stalled?

Jonathon Flores

Start.com is a very clean and basic site that allows you to organize the page with your favorite feeds and news. Just click the upper-left hand side where you see “Start Preview” to add or adjust feeds. Once you add your own favorite feed and want to pin it up on the main page- Click on the name (in the start preview bar) and select “pin”(this is how to put a feed on the main page). Once it’s pinned its located on the front page.

UPDATE: We have been visiting the page and it looks like Start is stalled out for the time being. We tried it on both IE and FireFox. The irony…..

It’s been there for a while. It’s very similar to Google’s Personalized Home Page, but handles adding RSS feeds better. Google won’t accept “http://del.icio.us/rss/popular/” in the Create a New Section box, but Start accepts it just fine. Of course, Google has integration with Gmail, which is a big point in its favor.

It’s billed as a preview, so look forward to seeing MS logos splashed everywhere eventually…

start is not starting for me neither. Looking at the page source ans seein msn.com plastered, I thought it was my mozilla but IE had the same fate. But after seeing it is from M$, I don’t think that I would like to visit this page again, ever !

Start.com is working all you need to do is kick”start” to make it work. I couldn’t resist either.
To make it work add a /2 or /3 at the end of the URL.
The http://www.start.com/3 is the better of the two options because it is easier to customize and to add feeds.
