New iRiver + iTunes Syncing Software 2.0 is Here (and free)
By Alice Hill
RealTechNews
I’m not a big fan of the iPod, and have been raving about Yahoo’s new music service that lets you download UNLIMITED songs for about $58 a year, use them on three PCs including my monster 250GB external hard Drive, and sync up with one MP3 player - I just bought the iRiver. (Review to follow.)
Anyway, if you are an iRiver owner and want to grab your iTunes or sync up or just set yourself apart from the iPod crowd, here’s a little news that might make your day.

This program will allow you to synchronize your iTunes music library to your iRiver H100 or H300 series portable mp3 player. Version 2.0 has been released! New features include using a non-default iTunes library path, downloading RSS news feeds to read on your iRiver, and the ability to automatically back-up any directory to your iRiver while syncing. Also, many bugs have been fixed!

* Windows 2000 or XP for Windows Version or Mac OSX Panther for Mac Version

* Switch to the “Advanced tab”
* Make sure “Keep iTunes Music folder organized” is checked.

3. Plug in your iRiver device and double click the “iRiver Sync.exe” file.
4. Enjoy!
Using the Program:

3. All your iTunes music will be copied to the “iTunes Music” folder on your iRiver device.
4. All your playlists will be exported to your iRiver device.

help!! i’m a computer idiot - child of the 60s/70s, etc. small machinery makes me nervous. but - i wanted an mp3 player soooo bad - and there was something in me that said no to the evil ipod. so i bought a beautiful, red, 6g iriverH100. but, because of my dumbness, i had saved all this great music to itunes (it was easy, and free on my pepsi bottle caps…) i followed your directions, and everything was going great until i got to the part that said “plug in your iriver device and double click the iriver sync.exe file” i plugged in my lovely little iriver, and no “iriver sync.exe file” ever showed up. what did i do wrong?

You have to click on the program you downloaded. So if you downloaded the program and put it in your “my documents” folder, then you plug in your iriver, turn it on, go to the folder where you downloaded the softwar, and double click on the iriver sync.exe file. Do you understand?

Can you use this software with the T series - T10 in particular, or does it only work with the H100 or H300? Thanks.

That’s not a sync, that’s a semi intelligent copier with a database creator.
A sync connecter actually would plug in to iTunes, and emulate the connection interface.

I am not able to make this software work…
You can find the program here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=21351&package_id=132220
but when I start the program it says:
“no iRiver h100/h300 series device detected! No iRiver device is attached to this computer. Please ensure that your iRiver device is connected to your computer and that the “CONNECTED” screen is displayed on the device.”
I’m using osx with an h340 (firmware upgraded).
what shall I do?
I hope someone will answer…
It would be great if this stuff works!
