What I think those who claim the test is "biased"/"inaccurate" are forgeting is the production and travel of goods varies fro country to country. So, when the fellow in Portland got a score of 5.9 earths and then clicked Kenya with the same info and recieved a score of 2 earths, it wasn't the metric/customary difference that made a change; the average types of foods in 1stWorld countries are heavily processed, containing many ingredients, the majority of which are grown hundreds of miles away, packaged and transported. In a place like Kenya, smaller, closer farms produce the average diet, meaning less chemicals, transport and packaging garbage. Slow food, not just close food- that is a large part.

Birds Conspire To Destroy Planet!

Sometimes you don't pick the topic, the topic picks you. Like today, when we had the story about chickens being able to think about the results of their actions. For some reason, it just seems like a bird day around...

CATEGORY ACRES
FOOD 4.7
MOBILITY 0.2
SHELTER 2
GOODS/SERVICES 1.5
TOTAL FOOTPRINT 8

IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON.

WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 4.5 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE ACRES PER PERSON.

Cool quiz, but I'm sure I don't consume that much. Sides, it misses out on things like "How many DVDs do you own", etc.

I came out with 1.5, but, I live and work on a small farm. We plow with mules. I grow most of the food we eat. Just buying tea, coffee, etc.
