Build Your Own Holograms at Home with this Handy Kit
Maybe it’s the season, but we’ve been obsessed with holographic technology here at RealTechNews. First came the 80GB holographic storage card, then the very cool Holographic TV, but since both are not likely to help any of us any time soon, here’s one that will - the home Hologram kit.
================================
THE LITIHOLO HOLOGRAM KIT $139
Since the first Star Wars movie projected a hologram of Princess Leia, holograms have captured the imagination of people everywhere. And today, almost all of our credit cards and driver’s licenses have holograms on them.
IN ABOUT AN HOUR from the time you open the box, you could be looking at your first hologram.
Many people hear about holograms today, but hologram technology has been out of reach for the average person. Companies and universities spend millions on holographic lasers and specialty vibration isolation equipment, while hobby holographers can spend months preparing before they get their first hologram.
THE SAFETYLIGHT LASER gives you safe, holographic laser power. And with the Litiholo “INSTANT HOLOGRAM” FILM, there are NO chemicals. Source: Lithholo

Our take: the constant use of CAPS is a little scary, but if they send us a kit, we’ll whip up a nice hologram and post here. Don’t look directly at the laser kids.

DC says:
I tried this kit out, and found it much more marketing hype than anything else. After doing more research and discussing these with members of holography forums, I found that Liti definitely overstates there claims and exaggerates how they differ from other holographic films. In truth, Liti’s kit is 100 times more susceptible to vibration than other kits or holographic film already on the market. The reference to the Star Wars hologram is definitely misleading, since the kit’s holograms are dim are static and very tough to see. Traditional holographc film and kits are much better, according to others who I’ve talked to who have tried this kit and other more effective kits and materials like those available at holokits.com.

I couldn’t agree more with the comments by DC above. I don’t think I’m the only one who thinks this, it turns out. See some comments on holographyforum.org.

It sure is worth checking out as it can help smaller shop owners create some interesting holographic visuals to attract visitors! And the cost isn’t as much either.
