New “Memory Hog” Widget Shows You What’s Eating Your Memory

A lot of people think that only Mac owners can use those beautiful and popular little software utilities called “widgets.”

Not so my friends, not so.

Long before Apple released OSX “Tiger” operating system and its impressive widget suite called “Dashboard“, a website named Konfabulator was cranking beautiful Widgets for both platforms. You can download a trial copy here and see for yourself and they even dropped the price from $29 to $19.99.

The best part, is that every day developers rush to add new widgets to the Konfabulator website. My new favorite is one aptly named “Memory Hog.”

As you can see from this screenshot of my desktop late last night,it looks like I was going nuts with FireFox, had many, many sites going and although my CPU metering widget said I still had about 50% more processing power, the Memory Hog was right, it was time to slim down on the open FireFox tabs.

And yes, the weather in San Francisco thanks to my weather widget shows it is going to be one awful rainy weekend. Boo.
