Optware’s New 30 Gigabyte Holographic Card

This is a new one. The very cool Holographic card costs $1 for 30 GIGABYTES of storage, but of course there’s a catch. The card reader is $1,800.

I guess if you plan on storing lots and lots and LOTS of video and photos and music, this could make sense, but for now, it’s just cool but too expensive for serious consideration. Coming in 2006 Source: Gizmodo

Can you imagine losing one of those cards?

Reader/Writer is about $9200. I would wonder what the read speed is like as compared to say, an average 7200 rpm hard drive.

$9,200 is way out my range, but the inexpensive media would be great if you could use them in a laptop or Cellphone, like an add on hard drive. Or if you digitize your DVDs, you coudl carry around a huge library based on theme - kids, action, TV series, etc.
