Network Magic Makes Setting Up A Home LAN Easy
I am not a big fan of “idiot” programs, but I have to say everything about this product is classy and sleek. Network Magic is fast and easy to use and makes keeping track of your network easy thanks to a simple and well-designed user interface.
They have a 14 day free trial so you can see for yourself before shelling out $49.00. Update: They just lowered the price to $19.99!
Our verdict: A Must. Best $20 you’ll ever spend.

I’ve set up several home networks (some more than once!) and have sweat blood and turned the air blue with every one of them until (trumpet fanfare) I saw Network Magic here. Today I set up a network in 5 MINUTES! Or rather I should say Network Magic did. Fantastic product. Five stars. Thanks, Alice!

Their web site says $39.99, not $19.99. Is this a random pricing thing by them, or did they change it?

I don’t get the fuss. I set up an 802.11g network last night and it took me only 7 or 8 minutes, with WEP and a wireless printer. No trouble at all. I’d rather do it myself than spend $20, $40 or more to have software do it. That $40 could go towards a new iPod or something equally fun.

I tried it on my home network and it seems like betaware
too many mistakes such as identifying some computers as running win95

Lots of bugs here too. Installed it for a week, and left it running to give it a fair shake. It’s long gone now. Why add another layer of confusion to the simple task of setting up a local network????
