What do they say about being naughty at Christmastime? Isaac most likely learned his lesson.

A Canadian dad, k_lid, sold his son’s Guitar Hero III game (for the Nintendo Wii) on eBay for $9,100.01 after catching him smoking pot in the backyard with two of his “delinquent” friends.

The auction goes into the gory details (check it out; really, really detailed), but typically for these things, the guy chased around a long time to get this highly desired game for his son. Since the “naughty” behavior seemed to supercede things, he decided to auction it.

He did give people a chance to talk him out of it (like anyone would). In the auction listing, he said:

I know smoking a joint isn’t the end of the world, but if you can convince me that he deserves the gift, then I will end the auction. You will have to be very convincing. I am an elementary school teacher and I know that rewarding bad behavior is just asking for more of the same …

Since the auction actually finished, I think either a) no one tried (likely as GH3 is sold out seemingly everywhere), or b) no one was convincing enough.

According to the auction, the son might get a Wii game, still … perhaps Barbie as the Island Princess or Dancing With the Stars. Frankly, based on how short the supply of Wiis is, I would hope Isaac is happy with just having the console.

We Say: At any rate, my only quibble with the whole thing is the seller’s rating: 92.1%! I would never buy anything this expensive from someone with that low a rating, no matter what. Meanwhile the buyer has a rating of 98.9% (which I still consider kinda low for 270 ratings).

Hopefully all will go well for both sides.
