As I previously wrote, some owners of the new iMacs are seeing their computers emulate PCs, but in the wrong way: they are seeing UI freezes. Today Apple acknowledged the problem.
Apple acknowledged on Thursday recent problems with its consumer iMac computer and promised a fix as soon as possible.
“A small number of iMac users have made us aware that a recent software update issued by Apple can sometimes cause their iMacs to freeze, requiring them to restart their iMac,†an Apple spokesperson told Macworld. Source: Macworld
We Say: Unfortunately, Apple still doesn’t know the root cause of the issue …
Being a Mac user, the problem is the switch to motherboards relying heavily on USB. Built in WiFi, trackpad and keyboards, for example, are examples of Mac devices that are USB.
My XP installation has never frozen and rebooted out of nowhere exactly once.
My iMac at work crashes once a month. When I ask for help from Mac fans they look at me with daggers, because Macs never crash.
