They say there is no such thing as bad press, which means the gang at Chevrolet must be popping champagne right about now. The Internet backlash over the make-your-own Chevy Tahoe commercial campaign launched in conjunction with the TV show The Apprentice is on fire right now. The concept was fun and soooo “web 2.0″ – let everyday users make their own TV commercial featuring the Tahoe and then, well, everyone will go buy one.
Of course, most wily online folks weren’t about to do nice puff pieces, and so what we have is an assortment of Chevy Tahoe commercials usually focusing on bad gas mileage, oil shortages, global warming and so on.
We Say: Nice use of technology and the backlash should not have been a surprise to anyone. Expect to see many more build-your-own ad campaigns around until someone gets truly vulgar.

Wow, that’s awesome!
I did one about the way the Bush Adminstration won’t cough up the money needed to fix the Levees around New Orleans

By the way. I did the Tahoe ad because a bunch of us are pissed that the Bush administration aren’t going to fix the levees and just let New Orleans die. They CAN fix it for the next 300 years, but they are being cheap. I love New Orleans and this just pains me.
We are sending Mardi Gras beads to Bush and or taking photos of us with beads asking him to fully fund the levee reconstruction.

My version of the ad is based on illegal immigration:

I think the 2010 Chevy Camaro is going to open some eyes with its looks on the outside and the MPG and interior features from the inside. The productions pictures look awesome (http://www.2010-chevrolet-camaro.com/) This will be a classic collectors car in the future for sure.
