Most command line DOS geeks are a fan of the “run” command in Windows. It’s easier to use than hunting around a bunch of windowed menus, and once you know that by hitting the “Windows” key (the one with the Windows logo usually next to the ALT key on the left) and the letter R (try it, we’ll wait) you can get right to the Run box directly, type IPconfig and learn about your network connection, or type “calc” and pull up a quick calculator, and on and on. (I just have a calc icon in my left hand quick launch tray, but that’s me.)

But did you know that there are hundredsof Run commands you can fire off with a simple Winkey + R? Try a few of these below. The bold item is the description and then the line below is what you enter into the Run box.

Best of All: Once you’ve entered in one of these commands, Windows saves them in a drop down in case you forgot the words to type.. Enjoy!
