As much technology as we have access to in the States, sometimes we fall way behind our counterparts in Europe and Japan. Take for example, the rollout of 24Mbps broadband in the UK by BE Un limited for only £24/month which is roughly US $42 at today’s exchange rates. You can get a package that limits you to 1GB of downloads for £14/month. This broadband technology is based on ADSL2+ which runs over the same copper wires to your home that you use for your existing DSL and/or phone line. Currently, I pay approximately US $50 for a 768kbps DSL line. Obviously I’d pay $42 for 24Mbps!

It seems that, for broadband at least, the US is way behind some of Europe and most of Asia, and has been for years.
Whoa! you get 768kbps for $50??? I pay $50 for 3Mbps DSL and live in the hills and get served buy our cruddy local telephone/cable/internet company. I always thought it was expensive, guess I have it good. The US is behind on a lot of tech, as we most know, Japan gets a lot of the newer tech long before we do. And the cell phone industry is always a few steps ahead in Japan and the UK.
Questions should be is WHY? Why is the us behind..greed, government regulations? 24mbps..my goodness that would be fast! FIOS isnt that fast for the price..FIOS for 30mbps STARTS at $179.95 a month!! Maybe we should all pack and move to Europe
