Nokia today announced 4 new handsets. The Nokia 1255 and the Nokia 2355 low-end phones for emerging markets and the Nokia 2855 and 6165 mid-range phones.

Nokia 1255
The Nokia 1255 weights only 80-gram and has the basic Series 40 features like voice recorder, calendar, stopwatch, vibrating alert and alarm clock. No camera. 2 built-in games and some pre-installed ringtones screensavers represent the mobile entertainment on this phone. Pros is battery life which is up to 4 hours of talk time and up to 10 days of standby time.

Nokia 2355
The Nokia 2355 weights 78 gram and has a color screen, built-in FM radio, WAP 2.0 compliant browser, polyphonic ringtones, calendar, alarm clock and integrated flashlight.

The mid-range Nokia 2855 and 6165 phones each weigts under 4 ounces, have Bluetooth and polyphonic ringtones.

Nokia 2855
This phone comes in metallic-finish indigo or cabernet, has Bluetooth and a color screen (128 x 160 pixels and 262K). The phonebook manages 500 entries, it has voice memo recorder and voice dialing and support for MP3 and AAC ringtones.

Nokia 6165
The Nokia 6165 phone is very similar to the Nokia 2855, but the 6165 has a 1-megapixel camera with flash.

Our Take: If you need a basic phone for making phone calls, no camera or MP3 player to reduce the talk time, low-end models are a good choice.
