Ever wonder how much of the earth’s resources you consume? Thanks to technology you can confirm your worst suspicions, with the handy Ecological Footprint Quiz.
According to my own results shown here, I am a land-raping monster who requires 8.9 planets to survive if everyone lived like me, and I ride a scooter and mostly walk around the city. Oh well.
What’s Your Score? Post your results here and let’s see who eats Condor eggs or something to make my score seem a little less severe!

How Big is Your Ecological Footprint? (Aparently I’m a land-raping monster)
Ever wonder how much of the earth’s resources you consume? Thanks to technology you can confirm your worst suspicions, with the handy Ecological Footprint Quiz. According to my own results shown here, I am a land-raping monster who requires 8.9 planet…
I took the quiz twice, the first time I marked off each question honestly, it rated that if everyone was like me we’d need 2.6 planets.
I took the quiz again, but this time I checked off that I eat less meat, take public transportation and no car travel at all. The rest was the same, but this time it said that I’d need 3 planets.
I think the quiz is inaccurate.
I got a 1.9, but I think the fact that I work at home helps quite a bit. Oh, and I have a feeling that the country you live in has a pretty large effect on how you score.
I live in portland and when I answer I get 5.9 earths. If I move to Kenya and keep everything the same I get 2 earths. That must mean that it takee fewer resourses to drive 160 km than it does 100 miles. hmmm.
CATEGORY ACRES
FOOD 6.2
MOBILITY 1.2
SHELTER 4.7
GOODS/SERVICES 5.4
TOTAL FOOTPRINT 18
IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON.
WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 4.5 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE ACRES PER PERSON.
IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 3.9 PLANETS.
Spiffy
I agree with the above, the quiz seems flawed, but it is still interesting to see how bad Alice really is
LOL
just kidding

I figure it has to be that I fly over 120,000 miles a year, so that must be it? I mean I almost never drive a car, and I guess I love electronics tad too much nad do eat packaged frozen food, but man, my score…..
This test is biased. If we unpluged our computers and stoped driving and took dumps in an outhouse the problem would be solved.
I came out with 1.5, but, I live and work on a small farm. We plow with mules. I grow most of the food we eat. Just buying tea, coffee, etc.

Cool quiz, but I’m sure I don’t consume that much. Sides, it misses out on things like “How many DVDs do you own”, etc.
Birds Conspire To Destroy Planet!
Sometimes you don’t pick the topic, the topic picks you. Like today, when we had the story about chickens being able to think about the results of their actions. For some reason, it just seems like a bird day around…
If I move to Kenya and keep everything the same I get 2 earths.
What I think those who claim the test is “biased”/”inaccurate” are forgeting is the production and travel of goods varies fro country to country. So, when the fellow in Portland got a score of 5.9 earths and then clicked Kenya with the same info and recieved a score of 2 earths, it wasn’t the metric/customary difference that made a change; the average types of foods in 1stWorld countries are heavily processed, containing many ingredients, the majority of which are grown hundreds of miles away, packaged and transported. In a place like Kenya, smaller, closer farms produce the average diet, meaning less chemicals, transport and packaging garbage. Slow food, not just close food- that is a large part.
