What my mother would have done for this product back when my sisters and I were young….sneaking ice cream was an art form we perfected: how to get enough out without making it look obvious. How to open the freezer and not make a sound. We were experts! Todays kids (and greedy sneaky roommates) won’t have it so easy thanks to the pint lock, a simple locking device that keeps the fiends away from your cream.
My only question…why would Ben and Jerry sell such a device? I can see why it would be popular, but isn’t an ice cream company hoping to get you to drain pints faster and faster instead of protecting a limited supply? Something to ponder….Souce: Ben and Jerry’s Via Gizmodo

Sorry, but that’s the most stupid product ever. If I really, really wanted a room-mate’s Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and I saw that goofy lock mechanism, I’d just cut the cardboard packaging with a knife and eat the icecream from the bottom.
I may also leave a note that says “Dear roomie, you owe 2 months rent and you blew your cash on this ice cream lock?!”
Good point. They will need to sell a metal pint holder to go with the lock set.
As to why B&J’s would sell this: “This one is MINE! Go buy your own!” ;o)
For the previous comments: I believe this is intended to disuade the “honest thief”… (sort of like locking the car?)
My fiancee and I get Ben & Jerry’s all the time. We share. Sharing is good. Locking is silly.
Is perfect for those trying to diet but suffer from a not so strong will, asuming the person has a friend responsible for the acces code.
I’m pretty sure it’s just meant to be cute.
