It sure was getting lonely. This week Blogger did a number on many poor blogs like this one. Hours would pass before we would post a story, then things would crash completely, and finally it looks like even posting a comment was impossible. If you didn't get a chance to speak your mind, please scroll down through the list of stories and add in your comments. We love the back and forth with RealTechNews readers and this week we posted a record 33 stories ranging from new products, to more rants and opinions. A major shout out to James Carver who posted a comment in the guestbook that most blog sites were all re-hashing the same thing. This week we really listened to his sage advice - I hope you'll see more opinion here, more hands-on commentary, and less quoting and linking with no context or analysis. It's a journey!
One thing that's always annoyed me is the inordinate amount of time that it takes to get to the comment page even when it is working. Sometimes I'll just click the link, play a game for a half hour and then come back hoping it's loaded. I hope Blogger works out these speed and reliability issues.
We are trying to move the site to another blogging program, but the template system is so complicated, I just can't bear it. A really cool guy offered to help today, so stay tuned....I agree, the posting time take so long that many times I lose a posting when it crashes. At the very least comments should be snappy and easy to do - not painful. My apologies. Thanks for hanging in there!
However, comment and trackback problems were solved yesterday by signing up with HoloScan which works great. Too bad we need to use third party tools to make Blogger somewhat usable.
Actually, we all should find another blogging venue. As I posted here -http://mtcave.blogspot.com/2005/03/blogger-is-broken.html
Don’t take the time to reply to this comment, unless Blogger is better.
