ASUS Vento 3600
I'm a sucker for a cool looking case and, to my feeble mind, this is one of the coolest looking cases I've seen to date. Did I mention it's also very functional?

  • Press down the front door and it then swings smoothly upwards. Users no longer have to worry about slamming the door against items on their desks.
  • The VENTO 3600 comes in green, red and blue. Its UV paint coating gives off a shinning waxed look and prevents scratches that ruin the appearance of the PC.
  • Supporting a 80mm fan at the front and a 120mm fan at the rear, the VENTO 3600 maximizes airflow inside the system for efficient heat dissipation. The side ventilation hole with air duct further pulls in cool air to lower CPU temperature.
  • With four 5.25-inch and four 3.5-inch drive bays, six PCI slots, one AGP 8x slot, four USB 2.0 ports and two audio ports, users can install a host of optical drives, hard disks, sound cards, LAN cards and peripherals simultaneously.
  • Turn the knob and open the side swivel door just like opening a normal door. This tool-less design permits users to access the chassis interior without the hassle of screws and screwdrivers.
ASUS has a Macromedia Flash presentation for the case but, as often happens with downloads from ASUS' site, it's slow to load. (Appears to be geared for 1024x768.) Current estimates are that the case will sell at somewhere between $140-$150.

Just think, you ca mod it out with a new intake and exhaust system and maybe paint some flames on the side to bump it up 10HP.

Yeah, that case is extremely cool...if extremely cool means you want your box to look like a Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner.

Todd, you're imagination isn't fully developed. Think stylized red Samurai helmet.

I like the door feature on the front and the swing opening side panel and tool-less deign, but the enlarged footprint and slightly garish looks put me off. I'd like to see one without the wider base, and in a black with a shiny coating. But that's just me.

I prefer the plain, clean lines of Lian-Li's myself. I also like the style of the Chieftec Dragon series (they look like Alienwares used to look like).

Wait a minute, Perros... You don't like the enlarged footprint but you want a slightly lager base? (Some 220 grit sandpaper, a tack cloth, adhesion promotor, and some automotive spray paint, and it can be any color you want.)

Look like the older Antec server cases --in which case, Antec's P190 should shake your socks a bit.

I am also surprized this isn't offered in black. It would probably be their top seller. I, personally, don't want anything that radical looking in my room.

As soon as they realize not many retailers will be stocking the green one, I think you'll probably see a black version.

The Vento case is 33 lbs!!! Probably 50 lbs with power supply, mobo, drives, etc. Good lord!

SUPER LAN BOY: super stupid name, awesome lightweight case.

The case itself is 24.5lbs. 33lbs is the shipping weight. And yes, my Super LanBoy, except for the Phantom Power supply, weighs less.

Jeebus, that thing belongs on the hood of a Camaro.

I'm all for cool industrial design. After all, how long did it take for PC cases to come in colors besides beige? Even so, that Asus design a little whacked out.

These days it's all about cool cutouts and cool cathode and LED lights in the case. I can't beleive some of the wild stuff modder fanboys come up with. ExtremeTech had a contest, and the guy that won built a gerbil home into his case!

Well, I guess if cars can have fishtanks in them...

Yeah Bill, I did say I'd like a case *without* the wider base.

Personally I've got the original LanBoy. I'm still not persuaded to change my mind on having an Antec Sonata as my next case. I built a PC for a friend with one, and it is soo quiet when matched with AMD cool'n'quiet technology, and the side loading HardDisk bays are a nice touch.

-Perros-

I tend to like my P-190 with dual triCool 120's and the Phan(less)tom power supply. The Sonata's quiet also, but a messed up CPU fan is spoiling it. As well, side mounted drive bays don't seem to work well if you try to use round drive cables.
