Adults Only
So there's you are, your favorite adult beverage in hand, waiting to get on your favorite adult site, and your computer wants you to give it the finger. Literally. An Israeli company is exploring a device that would require you to place your finger into it and then, using ultrasound, the device will determine how old you are.

Of course, bone doesn't change drastically on the day someone turns 18 or 21, so this technology is more useful at keeping younger children -- those under 14 -- from adult sites that employ the technology, said Shmuel Levin, founder of Israeli company i-Mature Inc.
Couple that with the use of RFID tags in Japanese students (and the suggestion that they be used here in a trial run at one American school). Do we have a movement going on? Is this really the way to go?

To much information is being collected in the name of security and saftey. When are we going to deal with OUR children in our home and not let somebody decide for us how and where to do it? If I want to get on an adult website then d***it I am going to and there ain't no stinking security process that can stop me.

Ummm... measuring "bone" density for access to adult sites? Egads.

Now, would using a pork spare-rib or even a drumstick bone clear the test? How dense does bone have to be to qualify someone as 18-ish?

Surely if fingerprint scanners can be tricked with gummybears, an ultrasound bone densometer could be tricked with something else.

Someone who, like Cartman, is "big boned" - would they read as older than their thinner contemporaries?

hey - i'm not anonymous! blogger boned my login ID!

I'm just glad it's only my finger they want to analyze.

It's amazing, the lengths technology goes to, to try and replace good parenting.
