Tiny Cell-Phone Sized Projector?
Just when you thought the cell phone had merged with enough devices, German researchers are working on a technology that embeds a data projector into the body of a cell phone. According to TechWeb, "They've already built a functioning prototype based on a laser beam flashed at a tilting micromirror that builds up the picture at a resolution of 320 by 240 pixels line by line at high speed. The mirror measures just 1.5 millimeters in diameter, and could be mass-produced on a microchip."
Only downside (aside from another battery-draining add-on): it only projects in red laser, giving PowerPoints an eerie glow. But you have to start somewhere I suppose. Next up will be green and then amber and then 8 colors, and then 16, etc. if history is any indicator.
