The New Dodge Charger

"The Charger coming off the line and out of garages this year will create a new reputation for the Dodge legend, featuring a modern design to back up its 21st century muscle car power, sports car handling and cutting-edge technology.

"With a 250-horsepower High Output V-6 engine or the optional 340-horsepower HEMIĀ® engine powering large 18-inch rear wheels, the all-new 2006 Dodge Charger races into the car market with bold, provocative styling and substance without losing the convenience of a modern sedan."

(And yes, there will be a 2-door version a little later on.)

First let me say that I love the car. Second, does anyone else see similarities between this car and the new mustang?

I've never owned a Ford and never really had a desire to do so, but I've seen the Mustang up close and personal enough to drool on it. There are no similarities between the two. The Mustang has the cleanest lines and sexiest curves I've seen on an American car in years. I was a "Dodge Boy" for 22 years, until my '94 V-10 pickup. Tried a Hemi Ram in '03. Wouldn't touch this Charger for at least a year and maybe not even then 'cause it's butt-ugly. In fact, ugliest Dodge I've seen since the '75 Charger. Almost makes the Pontiac GTO look good.

If you want a Dodge horror story, all you need is the '98 Durango that my family bought the same day the dealership got its first ever shipment of Durango's. That car had a lot of serious problems. I'm no car expert, so please bear with me on terms here;) Anyway, here's a list of things that broke:

*Windows (kept on falling down)

*Transmission

*Some sort of shaft that has to do with steering (got cracked and yes, it was noticeable)

*Something that held the wheels onto the car (we could have found ourselves suddenly without wheels while driving on the highway, what a fun thing to think about)

*The oil pump never worked well. We had called Dodge about this and they said that this was "normal" (that the oil pressure was really, really low when you start up the car). So, we believed them and kept driving on it. One day on the way back from a soccer game, the engine just froze. Great job Dodge. We got the engine replaced and sold it ASAP.

I like the looks of Dodge trucks, but I can't figure out why they can't build a transmission. The people I know with Dodge/Chrysler products, have nothing but problems with them. They are in the shop constantly, from the day you buy them until you get rid of them. Dodge, for some reason, builds a great engine then puts little or no thought into the rest of the vehicle. Too Bad.

This is my truck:

What do you mean, you can't see the similarities? Look! They both have four wheels, an engine, headlights, panes of glass so you can see out... I mean, it's as if Dodge set out deliberately to rip off Ford's innovative design! ;)

And isn't it cute how they gave it four doors? Like anyone's gonna fit in that back seat!

Is it me, or does nearly every sedan that's come out in the last ten years look like a Camry. I'm serious. Even BMWs and Mercedes have that hot "suburban commuter" look.

I think it looks like the Bonneville
