First Windows-Based Sewing Machine
Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid Dept: See how far you can get without snorting and hooting out loud. From the promotional literature on the Bernina Website, "Artista 200E is the first and only creative sewing system in the world that's Microsoft Windows Powered. Touch its large, color screen and see how familiar, how intuitive this system really is. Everything is right where you want it, right where it should be. It's so easy to learn and use, you will find yourself immersed in your creativity - rather than in your machine.

"Because unlike other sewing machines, the artista 200E is truly a sewing and embroidery system, with everything you need to open your world of imagination. From its precise stitching and CD-R drive, to its attachable embroidery module and the industry's most powerful software, to its traveling suitcase and optional accessories, no other machine offers the creative sewer so much. Whether you want to create quilts, garments, home dec, crafts or gorgeous embroidery, this is the one sewing system that will inspire you for years to come."

Well I for one think this isn't such a bad thing. Now I've never cared much for Micro$oft, but I'll take the relatively "standards based" M$ software over some proprietary garbage on most machines like this.
My sister sews and designs for houses for a living, and the garbagy software she currently has to use gives her plenty of trouble. Plus her current model you have to hook up a laptop, which can be a pain. This sounds like a much better alternative.

You don't suppose they embroidered their claims do you?

MICROSOFT - Where do you want to sew today?

< ba dah! >

And wardrobe malfunctions are caused by the BSOD, aka Blue Seam of Death?

If you click on the "brochure" link on the Bernina web site, you'll also discover that you can get, as an optional accessory, the WORLD'S FIRST SEWING MACHINE MODEM, perfect for downloading viruses, trojan horses, worms, adware, and spyware directly to your new Windows Sewing Machine.

Sheesh. Wonder if they'll come out with a Linux or Mac version. Or better yet, a sewing machine that you can wave around in the air to tell it what kind of stitch to sew, along the same lines as that ridiculous samsung cell phone. Shouldn't these people be working to end world hunger or for global peace or something?

You suppose it sews a little "blue screen of death" when it crashes?

How long until someone hacks it run Linux? Ive always been in the market for a sewing machine that doubles as a firewall and software router...
