Pricey iPod Audio Splitter
Here's a great Christmas gift that is also further proof that anything Apple-related garners a hefy cost premium.

Case in point: the iPod Audio Splitter from XtremeMac. It's $12.95, classic iPod white, over TWO TIMES the cost of a plain old black Y-adapter from Radio Shack. For $5.99 you can buy the exact same device technically speaking, but not in white.

What price fashion....

And is it just me or did Xtreme Mac swipe the old and still active Excite.com logo?

Yeah, it is. The link you posted is for an adapter with a 1/4 inch plug, not a mini plug. I changed it. However, it bothers me that the Apple coupler has a tip and three isolated segments on the barrel while the RS part has the tip and only two isolated segments. Methinks Apple is doing something a wee bit sneaky like isolating both grounds from each other.

Hmmm. Maybe they're pulling a Nokia and using a connector that is proprietary. When I cahnged to a Nokia phone, I had to get a new headset because of the ear phone jack.

im not sure which is more shocking... the fact that that thing costs so much.... or that excite is still alround and people still find a reason to go there. :D
