Pornography Gets a Domain Name
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann) has given preliminary approval to two new addresses - .mobi (for mobile phones) and .jobs. But don't despair! Ten new names are under consideration, including a domain for pornography, an anti-spam domain as well as .post and .travel, for the postal and travel industries. No name is, as yet, suggested for the pornography domain and suggestions are not being requested.

In a related story, it's rumored that 3M is pushing for a domain name for Scotch Tape, -.stki, 7-Eleven for its beverage line, -.slrpi, and Smith & Wesson for its products -.bam. However, Emeril Lagasse may sue over the latter, claiming that the .post domain would easily cover Smith & Wesson.

.xxx Why has this ever been in question? Oh wait, I forgot we need to keep filter companies in business and the porn sights can't accidentally mug people anymore(whitehouse).

.xxx? I thought it was .cum

very nice bill... the .post for Smith & Wesson made me laugh out loud

Hopefully you weren't sipping a beverage (adult or otherwise) at that moment. Although laughter, even out loud, is socially acceptable, my experience is that dribbling liquid through the nasal cavaties can be upsetting to some.

In light of recent events, wouldn't .NBA be a better choice instead of .post?

No, that would only be for a gang violence website.

ICANN is just silly.

These are the people who approved .museum and .aero
I love that the fact that aerospace companies (all 1000 of them in the entire world) get their own TLD. I can see Boeing rushing to stop using boeing.com and start using boeing.aero (Oh, they haven't. Surprise)

.travel makes some sense to me.

I still don't understand why .radio has not been created for the myraid radio stations in the world.
After all, televsion has .tv (And yes, I know that .tv is offically Tuvula (the country)).

Most people (Americans that I know) have enough trouble with .org and ICANN expects people to start using .museum and .travel?

Let's face it. Only one addition to the original TLDs (.com, .gov, .org and country codes) makes sense: .xxx

That way, I can find porn faster. Or not. But, at least it makes it easy.

Isn't XXX the name of a WWE wrestler?
