Google Sued Again
"Google, which went public in mid-August and runs a very profitable advertising business, has been hit with several intellectual property lawsuits from advertisers seeking to protect their trademarks." Says this news.com piece. This time it's from nude photo provider, Perfect 10. "They're showing the pictures from my magazine and my Web site for free so there's no reason for anyone to buy my products. To add insult to injury, they give away my user names and passwords," said Norm Zada, president of Beverly Hills, Calif.-based Perfect 10.

Further, a Google Web search for "perfect10.com passwords" serves up a list of usernames and passwords that would enable searchers to access Perfect 10's Web site and bypass its $25.50 monthly membership fee. Or so the claim goes. Sounds awfully steep for a membership to look at nudie pix on the Internet but it's probably better than looking at Geico's pet Gekko.

Google is a search engine, get over it. Google is not responsible for showing your content in its index, Mr Zada, you are responsible for showing your content to the world. That is, after all, what the Internet is used for.

Regarding the username/password thing, again, that's not really Google's fault either. You could start with disabling the accounts that show up in Google searches, those users should be banned (they probably signed up with stolen credit cards anyway)

Finalely, it's another lame attempt at raking cash out of a big corporation. Especially lame from a porn site, when porn is a dime a dozen on the internet (or gigabytes for free if you know where to look)

Anyway, in trying to find passwords for this domain, all one gets is ZIP. ZERO. ZILCH. NADA. You get other pron sites.

I'm sure noone involved in the suit actually beleives that Google has done something wrong by indexing what sites have left dangling for all to see. Just another atack at those who hold the money. (robbing the poor doesn't pay)
If anyone like skewedselfimage10 actually cared about being indexed they'd keep the protected stuff protected.
