Blogs 'R' Them...
The great thing about blogs are that they give everyone a chance to state their own opinion when otherwise it might go unseen, unheard, or even unknown. So I wonder why I find myself in such an odd position, considering how much original information should be available, to need to mention to a few blogs out there that simply lifting a complete post from here, including headline and picture, is not really a great thing to do. How do I know? Well, Blogger does have a rudimentary tracking system for referrals. I can look. Yes, I've yet to find one that didn't also have an "aliceandbill.com" link on top of or underneath the swiped post, but you know what, once the folk have read the post, why come here to read it? You're not doing us a favor that way.
I appreciate the thought. I know it's not malicious. But if you really want to link to us, just summarize a post you like. Use the headline or the first two sentences. The big ol' back hoe approach isn't doing us any favors --especially when I find myself staring at five or six posts sucked right out of here into someone else's blog, as I did this afternoon, and they're all word for word. If you have a specific reason for wanting to lift a post verbatim, ask us first. Odds are we won't turn down anything reasonable. If you don't do that, then you're stealing our work, plain and simple. That's not a nice thing and I'll have to come have a personal talk with you using my less than happy and polite voice. Plagiarism is not the sincerest form of flattery and, later, when you're trying to become a congressperson, or the head of Homeland Security, or Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, it will come back to bite you. Thanks.
