We're #2!
Now I know how Mark Martin felt after Sunday's Mountain Dew Southern 500.... We placed ahead of SlashDot (hey, that wasn't a cheer you heard coming from me) but fell victim to Groklaw! (Groklaw?) By the way, when I mention that we're

among Independent Techblogs on the Web according to CMP's TechWeb Survey, I'm also speaking for Alice (who just got back in the USA a few moments ago and is winging her way to Sunny California as we speak) when I say thanks to all of you who voted for us. Even though Alice didn't get the Starbucks card, we both deeply appreciate your efforts. (Don't worry, I'll buy her a half-cafe latte or something...) We'll crank things up here so that by next year, when, according to rumors, they'll be offering a gift card to Summit Racing, we'll (all) get top honors.

Don't worry, you guys are #1 to us.

By the way.... Quote of the Month from November 10th: "There is absolutly no way on the planet that your upstart [blog] could begin to hold a candle to slashdot. I do recognize your accomplishment however, lets all be realistic....... posted by Anonymous : 2:41 PM

Hey Todd: Nah-nah, nah-nah-nah!

Congrats on your #2 placing! You even beat out Slashdot!

Grok must've been the CowboyNeal option...

"More interesting, however, is the prevalence of the CowboyNeal option in the absence of its explicit declaration. Usually the last of the poll options contains the word CowboyNeal or a variant thereof. Should that last poll option not refer to CowboyNeal explicitly, posters invariably question the nature of said option and its possible relation to CowboyNeal's life or given preferences. The CowboyNeal option would thus theoretically exist in every Slashdot poll."

You might be right! (But I think Pamela sent out nudes to the voters... ONLY KIDDING!!!)

That's awesome! I was expecting competition from Slashdot...but Groklaw??? Who the heck are they? Anyway, congrats.

Surprised me, but SlashDot finished 4th.

Groklaw has written a lot about the SCO vs. Linux issue from a legal perspective, without the FUD you get just about everywhere else.

Scott, did you cut and paste that from the voter's comments on the CMP page? ;-)

I agree, this site has a long way to go before it becomes Slashdot. I mean, you're not posting anything by Roland Papillique, you're not posting the same story several times a day, you're not posting misleading and inflammatory news items, and your comments section isn't populated with ridiculous leftist political screeds modded insightful by 13 year olds.

Geez, Bill, get with it. Couldn't you at least discuss a few useless projects with words like "open" or "community" in them? Or maybe use phrases like "wants to be free" or maybe blame something on John Ashcroft?

I mean, I don't even need my tinfoil hat at this site! :-)

I feel your pain, David....

(There, did that do it for you?)
