Veterans Day
Alice has made it perfectly clear that this is a non-political blog so when I tell to check with your local town or city for a Veterans' Day Parade and then go down and cheer those folk it's only because I want you out there snapping pix and videos with your digital cameras and then rushing back home to post them on your blog. Of course, this has nothing to do with the deeds and sacrifices these folk did and made. Do you have any idea what an authentic 19th century snap of a buffalo herd can get you? Unlike the buffalo, most members of this species aren't marked for the endangered list and when they're gone, they're gone.

Technically, the sacrifice that these men and women made serving our country so that we could be free is truly worthy of praise, admiration, and gratitude. Free to buy incredibly cool Japanese gadgets and amazing German cars and cameras, I mean. (LEICA! Designed in Germany, Made in Japan.) Technically speaking, uh, military technology is also impressive and complicated.

Well put, Bill.

Terry, if I didn't know you better I'd tear you a new one for suggesting we'd risk our soldiers' lives for such a crass goal as being able to buy Japanese gadgets and German cars. But I know you were just being flip. It's one of those youthful things you'll grow out of.
