Poor Man's WiFi



















First, I found this great site called Hack a Day that features exactly what they claim. But what caught our eye was this bizarre entry about creating your own high gain WiFI antenna with an inexpensive USB WiFi adaptor and some hand tools.

Alice Demi-Rant: I live in an area that does not yet support DSL (only IDSL and that isn't even being installed until next week - hello it is 2004.) Anyway, the steps for this project are not for those with too much to do or if you have an actual life, but if you live on a hillside and feel technically adventurous and you want a great technical project that results in desperately-needed hi speed connection, this is definitely worth a look. You have to click on a bunch of little thumbnails to watch the whole step-by-step explanation, but it is very entertaining in a satisfying geeky sort of way.
