MS uber all of us?
With the help of singer Queen Latifah, Gates showed off a host of gadgets that use one or another Microsoft technology to access movies, music and video. "What we've got here is an ecosystem," Gates said "It's got partners, its got platforms, and it's got lots of choice. It's not just one device but all the different devices you want now and into the future." At the center of Gates' case is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005--an update to Microsoft's entertainment-oriented operating system."

On the hardware side, we have Microsoft and IBM trying to ensnare us all in global community, where each of our computers become part of an "extranet" of sorts and now Microsoft suggesting it all belongs in our living rooms. Let's bypass the obvious Orwellian implications and head straight for George Lucas. No, not Star Wars. A little earlier, a movie with Robert Duval, THX-1138. You really should watch it.

I rented this last night- It kind of drags in spots, but I think that's because Lucas is demonstrating the same scenario in three different ways (per his commentary).
It's worth looking at just to see the seeds of some Star Wars elements. The hooded holographic image reminds me of the Emperor, there are some weapon batons that are a little light-sabre-ish, and the robots being assembled look light C3P0.
This was the 'director's cut', so I don't know what Lucas may have added as opposed to being in the original.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the electronic confessional or the holgraphic police violence scenes. Great subject matter for Media Edition.
