Microsoft patents body power
Okay, it hasn't reached real outer space yet, but Microsoft actually submitted a patent for using human skin as a power conduit and data bus. Patent No. 6,754,472 describes a method for transmitting power and data to devices worn on the body and for communication of data between those devices.
Just who the heck does Microsoft think it is, God? (The agnostics and atheists in the audience should feel free to substitute "nature" or any other word deemed appropriate in place of "God.")
The human body has been transmitting power across its skin, muscles, nerves, brain, heart, lungs, etc., for quite some time without the benefits of Windows, Microsoft, Bill Gates, or the U.S. Patent Office. That's how our cells talk to each other. All we need is Microsoft to jump in and start mucking around with the way things are. Imagine, "Hey, wait a minute, I have to reboot my arm!" (The cynics and pessimists in the audience can substitute "heart," "lungs," "brain," or any other word deemed appropriate in place of "arm.")
Of course, the U.S. Patent Office, that bastion of technical understanding, will probably grant the patent. Hopefully God (ditto) will sue for infringement.
